Presentation
AspiTest is a small utility to check the version number of the four files composing the Aspi layer. The program displays the name and version number of each of those files, and a message stating whether the layer is up-to-date or no (at least 4.57[1008]). Former versions could cause performance and functionning problems.

More, the program allows the user to check the contents of the registry keys which command the behavior of the Aspi layer in some configurations. In particular, some keys are used to lock access to IDE/ATAPI drives (mainly CD-ROM and Zip drives, connected on the IDE bus or on the parallel port). See also our ASPI FAQ for a more technical information.

Last, if the AspiTest is launched in a configuration with MacDisk, it checks the presence of the Aspi installer and propose to upgrade if the version of the installer is greater. If you choose to upgrade, the program displays a new button to reboot the computer. Rebooting the computer is necessary after an Aspi upgrade, to let the changes become effective.
